I just upgraded to Wordpress 2.5.1 today. The reason of this lateness is because my web host’s Fantastico only have the Wordpress version 2.3.3. From my past experience, Fantastico usually updates their scripts to match the new version of softwares (drupal, wordpress, phpbb, etc) as early as two weeks after the official new verision of a software is released. And I’ve had enough for waiting.
Luckily, I checked my spam folder today and found out that my hosting has a new feature called simplescripts (I’m not sure how their email got in the spam folder.) Simplescripts basically works just like the Fantastico and my web host claimed that this software is updating their scripts faster than Fantastico does. But I thought that it can’t be that fast. Yet I was wrong, when I checked their simplescript’s interface guess what I found? Wordpress 2.5.1 that just released a couple days ago. And it really made my day.
After updating my couple-days-old blog that was installed using Fantastico as an experiment I feel confident to upgrade all my blogs to use simplescripts. All I need to do was filling the database_name, database_username, and database_password to match the current settings; that’s it! Simple and painless.
Then a couple minutes later, I was playing and familiarizing myself with the new Wordpress 2.5.1. Even though I stated that I’m not going to use the image gallery at all, I am now totally in love with the gallery. It’s very easy to use, you can upload multiple files at once, add/edit captions and titles, all using one the pop-up image’s interface. Without further ado, I’m going to show off my first gallery of futuristic buildings (taken from Google Search Image)
This gallery is automatically inserted with the gallery tag [*gallery] (remove the star) inside the post content. Very convenient right?
